In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. The Cormani McClain situation is all about NIL.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
At first it was. But now I’m hearing it’s more about his relationship with defensive backs analyst DeMarcus Van Dyke who is attracting interest from many head coaches. Van Dyke is a defensive analyst but not an on-field coach, and teams like Florida State, Colorado and others have been interested it seems. The McClain family want to assure Van Dyke is there to coach Cormani for the next few years thus the delay. Miami doesn’t have a spot for him it seems as an on field coach so this could be tricky. But I think Miami will offer him a bigger role even if it’s as an off field coach to keep McClain.

2. UGA is the team to beat for QB Dylan Raiola.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Raiola, the former Ohio State commitment, was there to watch UGA destroy TCU Monday night and rumor has it that the Dawgs have a huge lead. Nebraska is of course of interest with his dad an alumni player and his uncle a coach there but it will take a lot to pull him away from Kirby Smart I’m told.

3. DT Justin Scott is a Notre Dame lean.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
A catholic school kid from Illinois? Of course Notre Dame leads right? Wrong. While they might have had an early lead I’m hearing more about Michigan lately. Of course the Jim Harbaugh situation could change things and he is taking visits to places like Alabama, USC, Miami and Colorado soon but to me he’s a Michigan man if he’s choosing today.
