In Mike Farrell’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition, he determines whether Dante Moore will start immediately at UCLA…

In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Dante Moore starts right away at UCLA.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Promises were made to Moore and he will play early at UCLA but I don’t think he’s the starter day one. Kent State transfer Collin Schlee has experience and comes in more seasoned than Moore and there are some QBs on the roster who know the offense. Moore will certainly see time but start? Nah.

Detroit King quarterback Dante Moore (5) talks to teammates after 28-23 win over Detroit Cass Tech at Cass Technical High School in Detroit on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022.

2. Oregon is screwed at QB.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Bo Nix is coming back, Ty Thompson is still a five-star talent, and they could flip Baylor commit Austin Novosad, who visited this past weekend and he’s a top-10 QB talent in this class. The Ducks will be just fine for the foreseeable future at QB.

3. OL Kadyn Proctor lands at Alabama.

Farrell’s take: FACT

This surprises me, but it seems to have legs. The in-state Iowa OL, who is committed to the Hawkeyes, has been looking around for a bit and was linked to Oregon for a hot minute. But after a trip to Oregon, I was told Proctor was set to visit Alabama again — on his own dime. That’s when I knew ‘Bama was as serious a threat as anyone. And not I expect them to add Proctor, my No. 1 OL, to the 2023 class.

Southeast Polk’s Kadyn Proctor (74) and Gavin Douglas (64) block Dowling Catholic’s Carson Hagan (51) on Friday, Aug. 26, 2022 at Valley Stadium.
