Recruiting Fact or Fiction: Nathaniel Marshall to Illini, Julian Lewis Flipping, Jordon Davison to OSU

Can Illinois reel in the five-star legacy? Will Julian Lewis look for a new home? And will the coveted RB head to Columbus?

In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Illinois has a legit shot at DL Nathaniel Marshall.

Farrell’s take: FACT

He’s a legacy with his grandfather, a hoops legend at Illinois, and the Illini have an official visit already set. Miami has an official as well, and this could come down to Mario vs Bret after their Twitter dust-up a few weeks ago. They are still a longshot, but the Illini have a chance here for the 5-star in-state DL.

2. QB Julian Lewis sticks with USC.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, and Colorado all get official visits from the 5-star QB this spring, but USC gets the last one, and based on how recruiting has worked forever, that’s a good sign for the Trojans. He’s doing his due diligence and checking out other places and will sit down with Lincoln Riley on March 30 and hash it all out again. But as a current USC commit and the way he has this scheduled, I’d be confident he will stick.

Oct 20, 2023; Carrollton, GA, USA; Carrollton Trojans quarterback Julian Lewis (10) scrambles out of the pocket against the Westlake Lions during the first half at Grisham Stadium.

3. Ohio State leads for RB Jordon Davison.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Texas has the edge here for the California running back, in my opinion, followed by Ohio State and some others, and it’s an intriguing battle. Bijan Robinson once favored the Buckeyes heavily before choosing Texas, and now Ohio State is hoping for redemption with this 5-star RB. Right now, it doesn’t look good though.
