Recruiting Fact or Fiction: Peyton Joseph to UF, Shaun Terry at ND, Vernell Brown III Staying Home

Mike Farrell on how impactful Peyton Joseph’s commitment to the Gators is, how Shaun Terry will fare in South Bend, and whether Vernell Brown III will stay in the Sunshine State

In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. OL Peyton Joseph is a big deal commitment for the Gators.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Georgia is an important state for the Gators to win some battles, and while the 6’4″, 305-pounder didn’t have an offer from the Dawgs, he did have Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee, and those are some hefty programs. Billy Napier needs all the recruiting wins he can get especially along the OL so this is a big deal.

2. Slot WR Shaun Terry fills a big need for Notre Dame.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Notre Dame needs to get faster, plain and simple, and Terry is an electric slot who can help with that. He’s not big at 5-10 and 170 pounds, which is why you won’t see him as a 4-star to many, but he’s great in space and plays slot and running back because of his ability in space. He can also play DB, but his ability as a catch-and-run guy on offense will be key for the Irish.

3. WR Vernell Brown III leaves the state of Florida.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

The Gators legacy has narrowed down to 11 schools, with Ohio State, Florida, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, Miami, Stanford, Clemson, Louisville, UCF, and Syracuse all in the mix. Still, I can’t see him passing on the Gators. And if he does pass on the Gators, he’ll likely end up at Florida State or Miami. His dad was a DB at Florida from 2001-2005 and served in a variety of different off-field roles at UF (2018-2023). He’s also former Gators QB Anthony Richardson’s manager. There are too many connections here to pass on the Gators to me.
