RECRUITING: Florida OL Decommits to Stay Closer to Home?

Only a few weeks after making a surprise commitment, a Florida OL has re-opened his recruiting process

Easy come, easy go. Just a few weeks ago, Louisville received a surprise commitment from offensive lineman Joel Ervin of Fort Myers (FL). However, after a weekend visit to Miami, Ervin had a change of heart this morning.

I have officially de committed from the University of Lousville please respect my decision.

Ervin’s commitment to Louisville came soon after a visit, so the timing of his decommitment likely isn’t a coincidence. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound tackle, who may play guard in college, had been considered a Miami lean before his sudden commitment to the Cardinals, so this once again makes the Canes a serious contender.

If he does or doesn’t commit to the Canes soon, this already seems like a situation where nothing will be close to solidified until after his official visits are complete. At this point Ervin has visits scheduled to Kentucky (5/30), Miami (6/6) and Florida (6/13), with the Cardinals now completely on the outside looking in.

With additional offers recently coming in from Georgia, Florida State, North Carolina, USC and others, this is a process that likely has a few additional upcoming twists and turns remaining.
