While most schools are naturally focused on Class of 2026 recruiting, it is never too early to look even further into the future. Penn State is doing just that, and successfully, as they added their third impressive Class of 2027 commitment over the weekend from an elite in-state athlete.

Khalil Taylor, 5-foot-11 and 180-pounds, plays several positions for Seton-La Salle High School in Pittsburgh. After an all-conference freshman season, he had 51 receptions for 932 yards and totaled 22 touchdowns in 2024.
Taylor has been a hot recruiting topic in the Pittsburgh area for years, with his first offer coming from UNLV in the spring of 2023 when he was in 8th grade. Since then, additional offers came in from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Akron, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, UConn, Wisconsin and obviously Penn State.
Taylor joins OL Layton von Brandt and RB Kemon Spell as early four-star Class of 2027 Penn State commitments. Von Brandt, 6-foot-6 and 260-pounds, committed in November, while Spell, 5-foot-10 and 195-pounds, started the class with a commitment in August. Spell is also from the Pittsburgh area, which further solidifies Penn State’s recruiting status in the talent-rich region.
