The state of California is annually home to some of the nation’s top prospects, and the 2025 recruiting class is no different as California touts 24 of the top-250 athletes in the 2025 cycle. Here are some of the best in the state and where things currently stand for them on the recruiting trail:

Husan Longstreet

Corona, CA (Centennial)

#55 NAT, #5 QB, #1 CA

Standing at 6’2″, 200 pounds, the 4-star signal caller holds 31 offers including offers from Oregon State, Miami, Texas A&M and UCLA. Longstreet, in his 2023 junior season threw for 3,013 yards, 24 touchdowns on a completion rate of 66.8% while also racking up 645 yards and 7 touchdowns in the ground showing off his willingness to run the ball when called upon.

Longstreet recently took visits to UCLA and Miami, but his recruitment appears to be wide open and he has not said much about any recent visits making it a little hard to determine which way he might be leaning. Nonetheless, I do buy into the fact that a visit to Miami and Coach Mario Cristobal at this point in the cycle would hold some weight and give them a slight advantage.

Early Prediction: Miami

Nasir Wyatt

Santa Ana, CA (Mater Dei)

#64 NAT, #6 EDGE, #2 CA

Edge rushers have always proven to be a massive key in any team winning a championship. Look no further, as 6’3″, 210-pound Wyatt fits the mold of a player that can transform your defensive line and make an impact on day one for any program. Wyatt holds 27 offers including offers from Georgia, Oregon, USC, and most recently got re-offered by Washington after the hiring of Coach Jedd Fisch.

The Best Way to End the Scheduling Debate

Wyatt was scheduled to visit Florida this weekend, but has since canceled and decided to visit Oregon and Coach Dan Lanning instead. There is still a lot of time to go in Wyatt’s recruitment with additional visits scheduled this spring to Michigan and Tennessee, so I would not expect a decision any time soon. With that being said, I personally like Wyatt to stay out west and will give an early edge to Oregon.

Early Prediction: Oregon

Dijon Lee

Mission Viejo, CA (Mission Viejo)

#77 NAT, #9 CB, #5 CA

Long and versatile, Dijon Lee stands at 6’3″, 180 pounds. He has shown he is comfortable playing physical and moves well for a corner of his size, a rare combination to have both size and speed. Lee has received offers from 17 different schools, but released a top 8 that included Arizona, Florida, LSU, Penn State, Oregon, Georgia, Washington and USC.

In the fall Lee took unofficial visits to Arizona and Washington, with many saying Washington may be tough to beat in the race for Lee. I am interested to see which teams can make a late run for the talented corner, but I see an advantage for Coach Jedd Fisch and Washington on this one as Lee was impressed with Arizona and Washington on those visits and had them in his top 8.

Early Prediction: Washington

Kaleb Edwards

El Dorado Hills, CA (Oak Ridge)

#97 NAT, #5 TE, #9 CA

Glorified blocker? Not Kaleb Edwards, the 6’6″, 240-pound tight end from El Dorado Hills. Edwards had 828 yards and 7 touchdowns on 44 receptions while also making an impact on the defensive side of the ball, with 6.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. The talented junior holds offers from 17 schools including offers from Michigan, Oregon, Auburn and most recently Texas.

Edwards plays power forward for the Oak Ridge basketball team, making visits a little tougher to make this early. I would expect Edwards’ recruitment to ramp up as we get into the spring although Coach Dan Lanning was spotted at an Oak Ridge basketball game to get a look at Edwards on the hardwood. Long way to go in this one, but I see Oregon having an early edge.

Early Prediction: Oregon
