While the recruiting trail has become national for most of college football’s top teams, Texas remains one of the top states to find talent on a national level. Let’s take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects in Texas in the 2025 cycle:

WR Kaliq Lockett

Sachse, TX

https://twitter.com/KaliqLockett/status/1746996292344041573

The 6’2″, 175 lb. four-star wide receiver currently holds 26 offers, including offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and LSU.

In 2023, his junior season at Sachse, Lockett racked up 59 receptions, 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns. Watching his highlights, he is a great possession receiver who may beat some teams over the top, but he can go up and get a catch when you need it.

Lockett was recently seen at Texas A&M’s junior day but had glowing things to say about LSU after taking a visit to Tiger Stadium last November. I would expect much more activity in his recruitment in 2025.

Early Prediction: LSU

CB Dorian Brew

Conroe, TX

The 6’2″, 185 lb., five-star defensive back currently holds 26 offers, including offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Texas.

Ohio State’s Offensive Reload: Chasing Back-to-Back Titles

Brew was actually Ohio’s top 2025 prospect until moving to Texas at the beginning of his junior year in 2023. His mother ran track at Ohio State.

Brew played 5 games in 2023, showing off his physicality and not being afraid to get off blocks and lower his shoulder when he needs to. He puts himself in good position to make plays on underneath routes and has a knack for putting his track and field stats (sub-11.00 100M dash) into context on the football field.

Brew took a couple of visits to Ohio State’s campus before his family moved to Texas and had previously set a commitment date of January 2024, his mother’s birthday. Brew has since canceled this commitment date and was spotted at Texas on January 20th. Many thought this was a foregone Ohio State conclusion. I think this commitment is far from over, and Texas seems to be in good shape to be the one to shake things up.

Early Prediction: Texas

OT Michael Fasusi

Lewisville, TX

The 6’4″, 285 lb. five-star offensive tackle currently holds 36 offers, including offers from Texas A&M, Ohio State, Colorado, and Alabama.

Fasusi is seen as one of the top edge protectors in the country, named Newcomer of the Year during his first season playing in Texas in 2022, his sophomore year. Fasusi is also a force in the run game, with quick feet allowing him to get to the next level of downfield blocking. A must-get for any team in need of a tackle.

Fasusi recently took visits to Missouri and Texas A&M, but I would expect him to keep his options open as we go down the stretch. I like Texas A&M’s chances early based on the relationship I think head coach Mike Elko can build with the elite prospect in his own backyard.

Early prediction: Texas A&M

WR Andrew Marsh

Fulshear, FL

The 6’1″, 73 lb. wide receiver holds 32 offers, including offers from Alabama, Colorado, Auburn and Texas A&M.

In 2023, Marsh’s junior season, he was named unanimous first team in his district, piling up 65 receptions, 1,158 yards, and 15 touchdowns.

Marsh took a visit to Mike Elko and Texas A&M on January 20th, his first visit back since Elko was hired. We are still very early in this recruitment, but it appears Marsh enjoyed what he saw his last time around in College Station, making them an early favorite.

Early Prediction: Texas A&M
