Recruiting Round-Up: Big Day for Florida

Recruiting Round-Up 7/7/22

There were nine notable commitments today in the world of Power Five College football, and nobody had a bigger day than the University of Florida which nabbed two. The Gators were able to flip a blue-chip QB from Penn State and add one of the most coveted RB prospects in the country.

Four-Star RB Treyaun Webb and 4-Star QB Marcus Stokes choose Florida

Marcus Stokes is a 6’3 QB from Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. Stokes had originally pledged to Penn State, but after thinking things over he chose to stay home and be a Gator. The 2023 class is full of talented young QBs, and Stokes is one of the more overlooked at the position. He won’t wow you with his high school stats, but he does have a solid arm. Not a guy I would peg to start anytime soon, but after some development could be a good player for the Gators.

Webb on the other hand is a stone-cold baller, he will make waves quickly in Gainesville. The 6’1 205 pounder is a source of instant fireworks. He can do it all, having an impact in the return game, out of the backfield as a pass-catcher, and can battle in the interior of the line of scrimmage. Big get here for Billy Napier.

Four-Star IOL Amir Herring Commits to Michigan

The Wolverines have been slow to start on the trail this off-season but it’s just July, and pick-ups like this are what can jump-start plenty of recruiting momentum. Herring is 6’3 300 lbs from West Bloomfield, MI.  A good athlete who shows the solid technique, and actually was a 4-year starter in high school primarily as a tackle. Often times you can convert tackles to interior positions due to their athleticsm. He will need at least a year in a college weight room and learning before he can be a major contributor but that’s normal for an offensive lineman. Big pick up for Michigan who needed some life on the trail.

Four-Star Edge Bai Jobe Pledges to Michigan State

Originally from Senegal Jobe moved to the United States in eighth grade. Currently, Jobe lives in Norman, Oklahoma. He is listed at 6’4 215 lbs but has a massive frame to add some bulk to him and play off the edge. Extremely gifted athlete, as he returns punts and kicks and plays both offense and defense. Has a quick first step and is very fluid. Able to fight and bend to get around tackles, and splits double teams at the high school level easily. The technique needs some work but has only played football for a couple of years pure raw talent. Likely to play early for the Spartans as he is the type of talent that rarely chooses a place like East Lansing to play football. He chose the Spartans over Oklahoma and Alabama, so quite the recruiting victory for Mel Tucker.

Four-Star WR Cameron Seldon Taking his Talents to Rocky Top

Cameron Seldon is a 6’2 220-pound WR from Heathsville, VA. Cameron has quality size and possesses excellent play strength. He should impact early for the Volunteers. Seldon chose Tennessee over the likes of Michigan and Penn State. Seldon could also play linebacker as he was rated a 4-Star prospect at that position as well. Either way, early playing time is likely as he is simply a unique athlete with quality size. Ball skills are elite, long-term projects to being a Day one or two NFL draft pick. Heupel and company with a nice get.
