Recruiting Round-Up 7/9/22
Today’s recruiting round-up beings with the University of Miami has been picking up steam on the recruiting trail under new head coach Mario Cristobal, who came from Oregon. The Canes have been shooting up the boards in the top 10 of the 247compsite. Miami has picked up six commitments since June 26th. Cristobal is changing how things operate in Coral Gables and deserves a ton of credit for the momentum.
Four-Star Edge Jayden Wayne Commits to Miami (FL)
Jayden goes to IMG academy and is listed at 6’5 245 pounds. The young edge defender has gained many expectations through the recruiting process. Wayne is an incredible and rare athletic specimen who plays wide receiver on offense and also plays on the hardwood. He is explosive and penetrates the backfield quickly. He is excellent in pursuit and sets a quality edge. Jayden will have a chance to play right away for the Hurricanes and be one of the foundational pieces to Mario Cristobal’s first recruiting class. There is plenty of room on his frame to add weight, and he could top out at around 270-280 pounds. I expect him to be in college for just three seasons.

Four-Star CB Jaylon Braxton is heading to Arkansas.
Braxton from Frisco, Texas, checks in at 6′ 170 pounds. Athletic gifts run in the family; his brother is a quarterback for the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Jaylon is quite the athlete competing in track and field and has quite the acumen as a football player. He was named the Texas 5A two-way player of the year. With the slight build, Jaylon will likely need to sit a year or two at Arkansas before he is ready for the physical nature of SEC play. The big plus for a guy like Braxton is he has pretty good ball skills, making him a prime candidate to get a fair share of interceptions. Turnovers in today’s game are more important than ever, and he can be that type of game-changer for the Hogs.
