Names in the News

–4-star 2024 WR Gatlin Bair, Burley Senior High School, Burley, Idaho.

Gatlin Bair is the No. 266 national prospect, the No. 37 wide receiver, and the No. 1 player in Idaho in the 2024 class, and he has named his top 11 schools. They are the Boise State Broncos, BYU Cougars, Colorado Buffaloes, Michigan Wolverines, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Stanford Cardinal, Utah Utes, and Washington Huskies. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Utes and Cowboys as the top two teams to land him.

–4-star 2024 WR Mazeo Bennett, Greenville High School, Greenville, South Carolina.

Mazeo Bennett is the No. 214 national prospect, the No. 31 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in South Carolina in the 2024 class, and he decommitted from the Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday. He had been committed to them since October when he chose them over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon Ducks, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Tennessee Volunteers. Keep an eye out for the Gamecocks here, as he is from South Carolina and has family ties to the school.

–4-star RB Dylan Edwards, Derby High School, Derby, Kansas.

Dylan Edwards is the No. 191 national prospect, the No. 19 running back, and the No. 2 player in Kansas, and he decommitted from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday. He has been committed to them since June before backing off his pledge. Edwards announced afterward that the Colorado Buffaloes and Kansas State Wildcats are the two schools in the lead for him. However, I like the Buffaloes here due to his relationship with Deion Sanders, which goes back to Edward’s Little League Days in Dallas. The 247 Sports Crystal Ball and On3 RPM have him choosing the Buffaloes too.

–5 star RB Rueben Owens, El Campo High School, El Campo, Texas.

Ruben Owens is the No. 23 national prospect, the No. 2 running back, and the No. 5 player in Texas committed to the Texas A&M Aggies just a few hours after he decommitted from the Louisville Cardinals. Owens had been committed to the Cardinals since June 20 before backing off his pledge. He joins an Aggies class that is now ranked No. 18 overall and eighth in the SEC and is an excellent win for Jimbo Fisher and company after a down season.

–4-star 2024 QB Michael Van Buren, St. Frances Academy, Baltimore, Maryland.

Michael Van Buren is the No. 103 national prospect, the No. 8 quarterback, and the No. 3 player in Maryland in the 2024 class, and he has named his top eight schools. Those schools are the Cincinnati Bearcats, Maryland Terrapins, Miami Hurricanes, Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Wisconsin Badgers. Regarding these schools, he said,

“These are the schools I am really liking right now. Other schools could still jump in, it is not too late, but I am turning my focus on these eight right now.”

It’s still early, but the Nittany Lions are the leaders, according to the On3 RPM.
