We’ll keep the scouting reports rolling on top prospects from across the country.
Josiah Brown – ATH (Safety)
Hicksville, NY (Holy Trinity Diocesan)
Two-way prospect who also competes in track and ran a 11.11 100m dash as a freshman. Plays WR, KR/PR, and FS in High School. Solid length and poor weight in a compact frame that still has room to max out. Elite range from his post or single high alignment, shows the ability to go sideline to sideline due to good processing and pass recognition. Uses his elite acceleration and foot speed to get a quick jump and affect the catch point on vertical routes on the sideline. Very good foot quickness to get out of his backpedal and transition to drive on the ball due to good balance and knee bend. Very good ball skills, shows solid ball tracking and very good timing and angles to arrive and time up his impact to disrupt and bring in interceptions with solid concentration if not immediately contested. Good run support due to good vision and awareness of his keys, attacking quickly and shooting gaps due to elite explosiveness and good competitiveness.
Adequate open field tackling due to marginal upper body strength and tackling form, bigger runners are able to run through his arm tackles especially when they are able get a two way go on him. Adequate man coverage against bigger targets, gets pushed off at the top of the route due to adequate lower body strength and leverage awareness in man coverage. Overall very good prospect who can be contributor early on special teams, as his athletic ability and vision make him a dangerous returner, and when able to max out more in the future should be able to step in as an high impact single high coverage safety with high turnover potential for a Power 5 school.

Caden Brown – EDGE
Brooklyn, NY (Erasmus Hall High School)
DL prospect that has garnered attention throughout the Big Ten. His father Alban played LB for Syracuse in the 80s. Very good height and solid weight in a projectable, long frame with very good arm length. Very good upfield burst off the snap, transitioning speed into power easily due to good quickness and knee bend. Gets under the pads and bull rushes blockers backwards with good lower body strength and explosion. Very good hand quickness and upper body strength to swat hands off his chest and disengage to the corner with good flexibility and hunts the QB when free. Very good pursuit, motors runs hot every play and he looks to get involved with very good competitive toughness while maneuvering through traffic with good agility and balance. Wraps up tackles with good form and violence using his knee bend to add to his very good lower body strength and force ball carriers backwards.
Always attack mentality comes back to bite him on run plays where he’s gap aligned and shooting straight forwards as it helps blockers to angle/down block him out of the play due to his adequate vision and run/pass keying. Adequate pass rush counters at this point in his career, when initial moves stalls his feet tend to stop with him and do not allow transition into plan B due to adequate processing. Overall very good prospect who already sports a good frame and very good physical toughness that should allow him to contribute early on and become a leading pass rusher on a Big Ten attacking front in the future.

Walker White – QB
Little Rock, AR (Little Rock Christian Academy)
8th ranked QB prospect in the nation who received interest from every major conference. Brother John David played WR at Arkansas. Very good height and good weight with solid acceleration and quickness. Reads coverages pre-snap and adjusts blocking scheme to his o-line with good awareness. Good set-up quickness after the snap, ready to fire immediately with good foot quickness and technique on 3 and 5 step dropbacks. Good processing of high/low reads and one side concepts, going quickly from 1 to 3 with good processing and finding the opening against zone concepts. Good accuracy to all levels of the field with clean and tight motion, keeping his shoulders square when rolling to either side and delivering a catchable ball to maximize YAC opportunities. Very good poise when pressured early with solid acceleration to change tackling angles while keeping his eyes downfield throughout the scramble while his receivers look to separate. Good courage to uncork deep when knowing he’s about to get hit with good physical and mental toughness.
Was not asked to play from under center and rarely had to make full field reads from the pocket as he could rely on his receivers to get separation early. Speed and agility are adequate, was able to run away at the high school level but the jump to the SEC will likely turning him into more of a classic pocket passer with some pocket maneuverability. Arm strength to the opposing sideline is adequate, does not drive the ball through and relies more on his anticipation and touch. Overall good QB prospect who should be able to start in the SEC in his 3rd year at the latest as his processing, mechanics and poise give him a safe floor and with experience and coaching in his new system has the upside to develop into QB you can win because of over time.

Grant Brix – OT
Logan, IA (Logan-Magnolia High School)
OT prospect who is drawing attention from both the Big Ten and Big 12 conferences that also competes in wrestling. Good height and poor weight in a lanky frame that does leave a ton of room to max out. Elite quickness off the snap, creates room and time in a hurry to get settled and beat pass rushers to the spot with elite quickness and agility for the position. Good hand timing and placement to engage early and force stalemates while mirroring counter moves with his very good foot quickness. Very good in zone concepts, reaching on outside zone with very good acceleration and targeting the outside pad with good placement while moving his feet through contact and finishing defenders through the whistle with very good competitiveness. Good on gap and power blocks as a puller and lead blocker as his athletic ability and good knee bend allow him to arrive in leveraged position and target his man with good vision. Keeps his head on a swivel and looks for work with good mental toughness.
Marginal anchor due to marginal lower body and core strength, bigger rushers that manage to get into his chest are able to uproot him and move him backwards due to his poor weight. Needs to add muscle to hold up against the physical specimen coming from the DLs in the Big Ten. Adequate timing on combo and double concepts as he routinely out targets his 2nd man due to his quickness advantage, needs to learn to block in concert to allow timing plays to be successful. Overall very good Tackle prospect as his athletic ability and technique from his Wrestling background give him a very high floor especially in a run heavy offense. Carries elite ceiling as his frame in the right strength program should allow him to refine the power aspects of his game and become one of the best tackles in a power 5 conference by the end of his college career.
