We’ll keep the scouting reports rolling on top prospects from across the country.
Melvin Laster – OLB
Liberty, MO (Liberty North High School)
Linebacker prospect who garnered interest throughout the SEC and Big Ten. Good height and weight in a powerful frame with good arm length. Good burst off the snap, showing good initial quickness and acceleration to beat vertical setters to the spot. Good ability to translate his speed into power due to good punch timing and good knee bend. Plays from a leveraged position and adds force from his very good lower body strength to displace linemen backwards. Very good against the run with very good vision and processing to adapt quickly to blocks. Uses very good upper body strength to engage and shed when runner arrives in his gap. Very good against pull blocks, recognizing quickly and takes very good angles towards the lead blocker to evade and hunt for the ball-carrier. Very good tackler, uses his good play strength and angle awareness combined with very good form and grip strength to wrap up or push backwards against smaller targets. Very good competitive toughness, always looking for work and playing with very good aggressiveness and mental toughness in critical situations.
Adequate pass rush plan, mostly relying on his initial quickness and strength to bull rush at the current level but will need to improve on his adequate hand placement as more refined tackles will be able to knock his punches aside. Adequate pursuit from backside due to adequate long foot speed and agility, getting held up in traffic and chasing instead of cutting off lanes. Overall good prospect who already brings very good play strength but adequate pursuit projects him to more of a 3-4 OLB where his burst and physical toughness will come in handy as a pass rusher and frontside against the run. Can be trusted to become a factor for a good Power 5 defense by his third year.

Ryan Wingo – WR
St. Louis, MO (St. Louis University High School)
WR prospect who also ran track with a confirmed 10.55 100m dash. Older brother Ronnie played RB at Arkansas from 2009-12. Good height and adequate weight in a high cut frame with long legs, creating high center of gravity. Very good release against off and zone coverage, using elite acceleration to eat cushion in a hurry while showing good processing and understanding selling his speed and cutting into zoned DBs blind spot to create separation underneath on curl, hitch and out routes. Very good separation on vertical and speed cuts due to elite foot speed, finding another gear and flying by DBs to create bigger throwing windows deep. Good separation against flat and hook zones due to good vision and coverage understanding, settling down and finding voids quickly with good balance. Very good body control on throws all around his frame, showing very good concentration and mental toughness to bring in the ball in tight spots or torqueing his body and turning upfield quickly with the ball. Elite YAC ability, able to erase pursuit angles in the open field while also able to juke out bigger defenders with solid agility and has the long speed to take the ball to the house every time he touches it.
Adequate lower and upper body strength bring his release against bigger press DBs into his question and limit his separation on linear routes against man coverage when DB can match his athletic ability and stay in phase. Adequate hands when directly contested as his adequate extension leads to body catches and allows longer armed DBs to get their arms in at the catch point. Overall very good prospect who brings athletic ability and processing that force teams to alter their gameplan and should become a central point of a SEC Offense by his 3rd year. Frame leaves room for further muscle development and could reach his ceiling of an elite receiver if he grows.

Jaden Reddell – TE
Peculiar, MO (Raymore-Peculiar High School)
TE prospect who received offers from every major conference. Good height and solid weight in a lanky frame with good upper body strength. Good release against press coverage, showing good upper body strength and agility to push through and evade to get vertical into his stem. Good separation against man coverage on short and intermediate COD routes, sinking his hips at the breaking point with good knee bend and pushing off naturally while separating with good quickness and agility. Good separation on linear routes against LBs and safeties using good core strength to keep his line and create throwing windows even with a defender attached due to good angle awareness. Elite hands at the catch point, using elite tracking and extension to attack the ball even when highly contested and very good body control and adjust to snatch the ball while running full speed all around his frame with very good balance and mental toughness. Good YAC against smaller tacklers that he can angle out with his good agility and COD to lessen impact at the contact point and fall forward. Rarely asked to block but athletic tools and mental processing project him to be a solid blocker.
Adequate release against off coverage on vertical routes. Adequate acceleration limits his ability to open up hips of back-pedaling DBs and forces contested throws. Rarely lined up in a 3-point stance attached to the line and blocking ability is uncertain; could lack the understanding of complex blocks or assignments in gap concepts. Overall very good prospect who should be able to help immediately as a pass catcher in the Y position due to his athletic ability, processing, and ability to bring in contested catches. Run blocking would need development before becoming an every-down player.

Andrew Sprague – OT
Kansas City, MO (Rockhurst High School)
OT prospect who is receiving attention throughout the SEC and Big 12. Very good height and adequate weight in a huge frame with very good lower body strength and knee bend. Good set quickness out of jump and 45 degree sets, looks to make immediate contact with good hand timing allowing for leveraged position at contact. Good anchor against the bull rush using very good knee bend to sink in and absorb contact due to very good lower body strength. Very good acceleration and timing on reach blocks, able to get his hat across and uses very good lateral agility to mirror DL toward the sideline. Very good drive and base blocks using very good initial quickness and lower body strength to move even heavier DLs off the spot when able to get his hands inside and finishing through the whistle consistently due to very good competitive toughness. Very good on pull, lead and open field blocks, uses his very good acceleration, knee bend and agility to get good angles while moving in a leveraged position. Good vision to key his assignment and help the running game transition into next level.
Adequate hand placement and punch strength allow for savvy DLs to remove his hands leading to him lunge blocking. Adequate angle and combo blocker, overruns his angles and targets due to adequate angle awareness and hand placement. Overall very good prospect who brings all the athletic ability and size you could want but need to refine his use of hands and processing to be trusted against SEC Pass Rushers. Starter by his 3rd season and has the upside for All-Conference when buying into the technical nuances of the position.
