Names in the News

–3-star OT Calvin Clements, Lawrence Free State High School, Lawrence, Kansas.

Calvin Clements is the No. 656 national prospect, the No. 51 offensive tackle, and the No. 6 player in Kansas, and he decommitted from the Baylor Bears on Tuesday. Since June 30, he had been committed to the Bears before backing off his pledge, choosing them over the Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats. With his recruitment now open, I would keep an eye on the Jayhawks and Wildcats after they had successful seasons and were in the mix before he committed to the Bears.

–3-star ATH Solomon Davis, Charter Oak High School, Covina, California.

Solomon Davis is the No. 600 national prospect, the No. 42 athlete, and the No. 48 player in California, and he decommitted from the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday night. He has been committed to them since June 15 before he backed off his pledge. Davis will now visit the Oregon Ducks this weekend, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish could also be a possibility. He says he will decide on December 21. However, I like the Ducks here.

–4-star OT Spencer Fano, Timpview High School, Provo, Utah.

Spencer Fano is the No. 141 national prospect, the No. 14 offensive tackle, and the No. 2 player in Utah, and he committed to the Utah Utes on Tuesday night. He chose them over the BYU Cougars, Clemson Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, and Oregon Ducks. As a result, Fano becomes the highest-rated recruit, which includes fellow four-star offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, and adds to a Utes class that is ranked No. 29 overall and fourth in the Pac-12.

–4-star WR Taeshaun Lyons, Tennyson High School, Hayward, California.

Taeshaun Lyons is the No. 256 national prospect, the No. 32 wide receiver, and the No. 18 player in California, and he will make his commitment on December 16. His top four schools are the Miami Hurricanes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oregon Ducks, and Washington Huskies. However, the Fighting Irish are the favorites, as the 247 Sports Crystal Ball and On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine have him choosing them. In September, Lyons was in South Bend when the Fighting Irish hosted the California Golden Bears. Therefore, Notre Dame is my pick here.

–3-star CB Brice Pollock, Shiloh High School, Snellville, Georgia.

Brice Pollock is the No. 487 national prospect, the No. 47 cornerback, and the No. 47 player in Georgia, and he committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday night. He had been committed to the Pittsburgh Panthers until he backed off that pledge last week. So Pollock becomes the 19th commit in the Bulldogs class, ranked No. 31 overall.

–4-star 2024 CB Aneyas Williams, Hannibal High School, Hannibal, Missouri.

Aneyas Williams is the No. 185 national prospect, the No. 23 athlete, and the No. 5 player in Missouri in the 2024 class, and he will announce his decision on Friday, December 16. His top 10 schools are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Missouri Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Tennessee Volunteers. However, the Fighting Irish are considered the favorites by a wide margin according to the On3 RPM, which gives them a 94.2% chance of landing him. They are the team to beat.
