IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is a football factory when it comes to producing elite high school football players. The latest in the long line of standout defenders to come out of IMG is 2025 CB Michael “Mikey” Hunt Jr.
In 2024, Hunt helped IMG (9-3) to a state championship. Playing at 6-foot, 175 pounds, Hunt recorded 21 tackles, three INTs, eight pass breakups, one sack and one forced fumble, all while allowing zero touchdowns in coverage.
He displayed elite press-man coverage skills, quick feet to shadow receivers in space and is physical at the catch point. His 2025 growth plan has him up to 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, adding size without sacrificing speed or agility.
At Camden Military Academy in South Carolina in 2023, Hunt picked off five passes to go with 33 tackles, nine pass breakups and four sacks. Once again, Hunt allowed zero TDs in coverage.
In addition, Hunt contributed on offense and special teams, recording five receiving touchdowns, 61 rushing yards and 77 return yards. His leadership and all-around performance earned him the Spartan Award for Team Leader.
Hunt earned invitations to two Dream All-American Bowls, and his play earned him Top Performer in both games.

Training Hard to Be the Best
During his growth year, Hunt follows an intense and structured training regimen:
- Hunt works hard at his craft. He trains with multiple defensive back coaches so he can learn different techniques that translate to the collegiate level.
- Hunt works out with Coach Savage at The Elite Athletic Program on strength, conditioning and DB technique 2-3 times per week.
- In addition, Hunt trains with Coach Bo (DB Sensei) on defensive back technique once a week.
- Hunt works out with Mary Gould (PUMP 24) four times per week on strength training.
- Three days a week, Hunt trains with Siddiq Kanneh so he can maintain 4.5 speed while still adding weight.
- To help with recovery, Hunt trains at the Stretch Lab twice a week.
- Hunt also works with nutritionist Missy Miller, RDLD, on a tailored plan to add lean muscle the proper way.
While at Camden Academy, Hunt was a multi-sport athlete in basketball, lacrosse and track. His lateral quickness, spatial awareness and lower-body explosiveness from the triple jump and 4×100 relay directly enhance his ability to cover elite receivers.

Elite Skill Set That Coaches Covet
Known for his press-man coverage and physicality at the line of scrimmage, Hunt possesses a high football IQ and strong film study habits. Hunt combines a shutdown mentality with relentless work ethic. Coaches value his consistency, competitive edge and ability to erase top receiving threats.
Looking ahead, Hunt has accepted a scholarship offer to play overseas at Rome City Institute in Italy in the Italian Football League. This year will be a structured gap year dedicated to physical growth, advanced technique work and exposure to high-level international competition before entering a college program in 2026. That experience builds on his international competition exposure at IMG, where faced teams from Europe and Asia.
The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, had this to say about Hunt:
“2025 DB/ATH Mikey Hunt Jr. stays in phase, physical in run support and can play press or off. Undervalued.”
