Teams went into National Signing Day knowing how most of their class would turn out. However, there were still uncommitted big-time players which could become an important boost to a class. Here are the teams who were the biggest winners from yesterday’s National Signing Day.
South Carolina
Oh boy, are the Gamecocks recruiting well! They picked up the highest-rated uncommitted player in five-star and number one athlete Nyckoles Harbor from Washington D.C. Up until signing day, he was rumored to be going to either Columbia or Eugene which he visited last weekend. Harbor is an athletic freak at 6’5 225 with track speed. Arguably the Gamecock’s biggest commit since JaDeveon Clowney and their only 2023 five-star, Harbor brings South Carolina’s class up to sixteenth nationally and their best class since 2012.

Arizona State
Former head coach Herm Edwards left Arizona State in shambles with players leaving Tempe and sanctions on the way. His replacement, Kenny Dillingham has a large rebuild on his way but it will be easier now that he’s gotten Jaden Rashada at quarterback. Dillingham had connections with the Pittsburg, CA quarterback since he was recruited in Oregon. Rashada has always had an ASU connection, his father Harlen was a Sun Devil from 1992 to 1994. Rashada is the only Blue Chip recruit Arizona State landed, putting them in the forty-sixth best class nationally. That may not sound like a good class, but ASU’s class ranked 103rd in 2022 which is needed progress.
Colorado
The work Deion Sanders has done in one offseason is sensational. He’s probably the only person who could take the top cornerback recruit from Lakeland, Florida, and have him play for Colorado. He flipped to the Buffaloes on January 19th and stayed committed, signing his Letter of Intent on Wednesday. McClain went alongside four-stars Dylan Edwards, Adam Hopkins, and Omarion Miller who all committed after Sanders took over. While Colorado didn’t pick up any more commitments on signing day, they managed to keep all their current commitments. The Buffaloes will finish with a thirtieth-best class and the fifth-best in the Pac-12 which will only improve in 2024.

Oregon
The Ducks couldn’t close on Nyckoles Harbor but at least pried Rodrick Pleasant from Gardena, California. Pleasant is one of the fastest players in the country with a California state record of 10.14 in the 100m dash. He will continue to run track at one of the premier Track programs in Oregon. USC really wanted Pleasant and it’s a bad loss for them. If Oregon wants to become the top team on the West Coast then they need to keep recruiting great talent like Pleasant. His commitment caps off the top class in the Pac-12 and the eighth-ranked class nationally.
