Scouting Report

Haywood has very good size at 6’6″ and 270+ pounds. He’s also a good athlete for his size. He’s very light on his feet and shows solid coordination when pulling or getting out in front of screens. He’s good in the run game showing the ability to fire off the ball with solid pad level, attack the defender and latch on the inside of their shoulder pads to avoid penalty. He shows very good strength at the point of attack and plays through the whistle violently finishing blocks. Haywood has very good competitive toughness. He excels at down blocking and is able to wash down defender’s with regularity creating huge running lanes. In pass protection, he shows great technique during his initial pass set, getting out of his stance quickly and not allowing the defender to gain an early advantage by beating him off the ball. He uses his frame and length to his advantage to force defenders to have a longer route to the quarterback. Haywood lacks elite athleticism and elite strength. Although, I do think the strength will develop over time and Haywood’s ceiling is a power 5 starter as a redshirt freshman or redshirt sophomore. I believe he has NFL draft potential.
