Scouting Report

Johnson has adequate size for a tackle prospect and good size for a guard at 6’4″ 300 pounds. Johnson has room for development but overall has a lot of solid qualities that allow him to win at the high school level. He has very good strength at the point of attack and is consistently able to blow defenders off the ball in the run game. If he is having trouble moving the defender, Johnson understands using proper leverage when turning the defenders shoulders to create running lanes. He has strong hands and uses them to finish blocks. Johnson has his limitations athletically. He has less than adequate speed and mobility which prevents him from efficiently getting out in front on screens or beating the running back to the hole when pulling. He also needs to improve his pad level and knee bend when coming out of his stance. I believe Johnson projects to be a group of 5 contributor in two years. He would need several years of development to contribute at the power 5 level.
