The SEC has lost its mojo this season, as the Big Ten reigns supreme in the end. But that’s why we love college football—it’s unpredictable. However, that doesn’t discount the fantastic quarterbacks in the conference. There’s no exact criterion for this list; it’s based on individual skill sets. Here are my top SEC QBs heading into the 2025 season. It’s worth noting that everyone on this list is interchangeable.
Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee
• Synopsis: Talented but fell short of lofty expectations in his freshman season. The passing attack was nonexistent at times during the season, throwing for below 170 yards four times.
• Key Stats and Achievements: 63.8% completion rate, 2,616 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, five interceptions, and three rushing touchdowns.
• Strengths: A rhythm passer who can stretch the field. Accurate, particularly in the middle of the field. Notable dual-threat ability with 358 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
• Synopsis: A dynamic leader who’s no stranger to the SEC. Nussmeier is slated to be in the lead for next year’s Heisman. Passing-wise, he’s a gunslinger who stretches the field with exceptional arm talent, and he does well with getting through his progression. In next year’s draft, he will be a first-round pick.

• Key Stats and Achievements: 64.2% completion rate, 4,043 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and three rushing touchdowns.
• Strengths: Strong leadership, a powerful and accurate arm, highly competitive, and capable of making every throw.

DJ Lagway, Florida
• Synopsis: A talented player who wasn’t the full-time starter at the beginning of the year. I need to see him perform over an entire season. Decision-making is an area for improvement but should develop with experience.
• Key Stats and Achievements: 59.9% completion rate, 1,915 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Florida won three straight games to become bowl-eligible, defeating Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida State. They capped the season with a 33-8 bowl victory over Tulane.
• Strengths: Exceptional dual-threat ability, capable of making every throw. Scrambles to extend plays with a pass-first mentality but can run when necessary. Clean mechanics and impressive accuracy.

Arch Manning, Texas
• Synopsis: His talent is undeniable, and he possesses a very high football IQ. However, one of the few knocks against him is that he wasn’t a full-time starter.
• Key Stats and Achievements: 67.8% completion rate, 939 passing yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions, and four rushing touchdowns.
• Strengths: Exceptional accuracy, high IQ, and notable dual-threat ability. Capable of taking over a game if given the opportunity.

LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
• Synopsis: Sellers is another young passer, but he plays with the poise of an upperclassman. He has significant upside and is highly coachable.
• Key Stats and Achievements: Led South Carolina to a 6-0 record in his final six games as the starter. 65.6% completion rate, 2,534 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and seven rushing touchdowns.
• Strengths: The offense revolves around him. His dual-threat ability stands out, complemented by a strong arm and solid accuracy. Tough to bring down with a 6’3″ 243-pound frame and has the speed to break long runs and score.
