In today’s Fact or Fiction — NFL Draft edition — I look at three big recent topics around the NFL Draft and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. The Bills will trade up for a WR with Stefon Diggs gone.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
The Bills currently pick No. 28 in round one, and many feel they will trade up to land an elite WR like Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Udunze, or Malik Nabers after parting ways with Stefon Diggs. I don’t think so. The last time they moved up for a WR, they gave up an additional first and fourth to go from 9th to 4th and select Sammy Watkins in 2014, and that did not work out for them at all.
They could land a value WR like AD Mitchell, Brian Thomas, Ladd McConkey, or Xavier Worthy at 28, but I think they try to find their Tank Dell (sleeper) in round two and take another WR or two with their numerous picks. The problem? After the big three WRs, there is a big drop-off when it comes to guys who can immediately be WR1.

2. There won’t be a first round LB.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Payton Wilson from NC State is my No. 1 guy, and some have Junior Colson from Michigan. But it doesn’t matter. LB has been devalued similarly to RB, so their draft starts day two in round two. But someone is going to get a future star in Wilson in round two, and it could be the Houston Texans, who are suddenly one of the smartest teams in the NFL.

3. Spencer Rattler to the Broncos in round three makes sense.
Farrell’s take: FACT
Some think the Broncos will try to trade up to get a QB in the top four or perhaps go on Michael Penix Jr. at No. 12. Neither will happen as the Broncos will look for value later in the draft and will target the Gamecocks QB in round three. It likely won’t work out for them, but he’s not a bad flier pick to take to see if you catch lightning in a bottle.
