In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.
1. Shedeur Sanders should be ahead of Drake Maye in draft rankings.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I like Matt Miller from ESPN and respect his rankings often, but what is he thinking? He recently ranked Sanders at No. 5 overall and as the No. 2 QB in the draft (behind Caleb Williams) ahead of Maye, who he has at No. 6. Why? He points to Sanders’ precision and accuracy and his ability under pressure. And while those things are evident he’s missing the fact that Sanders holds onto the ball too long — way too long. And NFL QBs who do this always fail. Until Sanders anticipates the rush better, he’s not even a first-rounder to me. I know his OL stinks, as his dad pointed out, but any high draft pick is going to a team with a weak OL. I’ll take Maye over Williams, and I’m not even considering Sanders in the same class as the two.

2. The pressure is mounting on the Big Ten.
Farrell’s take: FACT
And it’s about time. Finally, and I mean finally, the other ADs and coaches are getting tired of this crap. And the pressure is mounting on Commissioner Tony Petitti to do something. This sign-stealing scandal has been at the top of the college football world news for a couple of weeks now, and it’s only gaining steam. And while many of the complaints have been about the unfair advantage Michigan has had over the last few seasons because of this, I’ve also been told many feel the reputation of the league continues to be tarnished as the Big Ten does nothing. Some action is required, many feel, and Petitti will continue to be barraged with requests to do something — anything. This is getting bad.

3. Clemson is the biggest disappointment in the ACC this season.
Farrell’s take: FICTION
I’m going with Pitt. Clemson has been bad, and it’s odd to see them with a losing record in the ACC and a 4-4 overall record, but Pitt is simply terrible. They are 2-6, didn’t even belong on the field with Notre Dame last week, and will get drilled by Florida State this weekend. And they could lose the rest of their games to go 2-10, as Syracuse, Boston College, and Duke are all better teams. I have no idea how Pat Narduzzi let things get to this point, but it’s getting ugly.
