Prospects in the News

–Jason Zandamela, IOL, Clearwater, FL (Clearwater Academy International), #62 nationally, #2 IOL, and #8 overall in FL

Jason Zandamela officially became a USC Trojan Tuesday afternoon, announcing his commitment just four days after officially visiting the soon-to-be Big Ten program. Zandamela has been high on USC’s radar for quite a while now, as he chose the Trojans over the likes of Florida State, Oklahoma, Auburn, and Cincinnati, to name a few. He is the 10th interior o-lineman to join the Trojan roster and is Florida’s eighth-highest-rated player in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-3, 287-pound ex-rugby player comes to Southern California looking to bolster a unit that nearly gave up three sacks per game, according to Team Rankings, all behind the elusiveness of quarterback Caleb Williams, who led the Trojans to the conference title game a season ago.

–JJ Harrell, WR, Sardis, Miss. (North Panola HS), #155 nationally, #22 WR, and #4 overall in MS

JJ Harrell is staying home. The 6-foot, 187-pound wideout will don the burgundy and white next season, as his pledge became official Tuesday. Harrell beat out the likes of an all-SEC bunch that included Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Auburn. Despite his smaller-sized frame, Harrell has made a name for himself as one of the best players in the class. The four-star recruit is ranked as the fourth-best player in the state and the 22nd-best wideout nationally. Although Harrell’s North Panola team went 5-7 a season ago, he still made heads turn with a staggering display of quickness on the outside and a nose for the football that should pay dividends for a Bulldogs team who finished 9-4 a season ago and averaged nearly 32 points per game.

–Jordan Burns, LB, Atlanta, GA., (Pace Academy), #389 nationally, #34 LB, and #47 overall in GA.

Jordan Burns kept the SEC recruiting spree rolling Tuesday, announcing his pledge to Tennessee to begin his college football journey. Burns was a highly sought-after linebacker recruit, as he gaged interest from most of the conference, including Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Auburn. For the 6’1.5, 220-pound Burns, it was a quick turnaround as he took his official visit to Knoxville this past weekend. A four-star recruit, Burns is one of Georgia’s players to watch as he enters his senior season as the 34th-best linebacker in the class and cracked Georgia’s top 50, coming in at No. 47. During his time at Pace Academy, Burns has been part of a program that has consistently won. The Knights finished their 2022 season 8-3, outscoring their opponents 333-191 en route to a state quarterfinal appearance, losing to Stephenson in a 40-38 nailbiter. Burns’ commitment not only shows the Volunteers are getting a winner but someone who wants to compete against the best the nation has to offer.

–PJ Woodland, CB, Hattiesburg, Miss. (Oak Grove HS), #405 nationally, #34 CB, and #14 overall in MS

PJ Woodland will join Harrell in Starkville next season, as Woodland also pledged to the Bulldogs on Tuesday as a 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback out of Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg. Woodland, like some of the other commits listed on this round-up, had interest from Arkansas and Auburn before ultimately deciding to go with the Bulldogs as his school of choice. Woodland is rated as the 14th-best player in Mississippi and has versatility, but he primarily does his work in the secondary. The Bulldogs will continue to add depth to the class, but Woodland should be able to make an impact in the years to come.
