This is one of my favorite times of the year, breaking down and evaluating different offenses from across the country. This time, I’m turning my focus to the ACC. A lot of analysts label this conference as less competitive than others, but I have to disagree. The ACC consistently produces top-tier quarterback talent and explosive offenses.

Here are my top five offensive coordinators heading into the 2025 season for the ACC.

1. Garrett Riley/Cade Klubnik, Clemson

2024: 451.9 yards per game (Pass: 3,899 yards, Run: 2,427 yards)

The Tigers return an experienced offensive line capable of anchoring a deep playoff run. Pair that with Klubnik and a talented receiving corps, and you’ve got what may be the most complete offense in the ACC.

2. Shannon Dawson/Carson Beck, Miami

2027 QB Drew Marks

2024: 537.2 yards per game (Pass: 4,527 yards, Run: 2,456 yards)

With Cam Ward now a member of the Tennessee Titans, Miami hands the reins to Beck. I like this fit for him. It’s a chance to remind NFL scouts why he’s worth the pick. The guys around him are talented: Malachi Toney, Ray Ray Joseph, Elija Lofton at tight end and Girard Pringle Jr. in the backfield. Add in solid line play and this unit has the potential to dominate.

3. Jeff Nixon/Rickie Collins, Syracuse

2024: 467.6 yards per game (Pass: 4,810 yards, Run: 1,269 yards)

Kyle McCord led the Orange last season, but now it’s LSU transfer Collins’ show. Syracuse is a program on the rise, and I really like what they’re building. Nixon’s system is quarterback friendly and Collins has the tools to thrive in it.

4. Casey Woods/Kevin Jennings, SMU

Dec 7, 2024; Charlotte, NC, USA; Southern Methodist Mustangs quarterback Kevin Jennings (7) runs for a touchdown during the first quarter against the Clemson Tigers in the 2024 ACC Championship game at Bank of America Stadium.

2024: 429.5 yards per game (Pass: 3,666 yards, Run: 2,347 yards)

SMU is building a legacy. Two straight 11-win seasons and a playoff berth last year prove they’re legit. Jennings is the engine that drives this machine, and with more trust, Woods should be able to open up the playbook even more this season.

5. Brian Brohm/Miller Moss, Louisville

2024: 449.2 yards per game (Pass: 3,433 yards, Run: 2,407 yards)

Last year, Tyler Shough was the guy, now it’s Moss’ turn. Here’s what jumps out: Shough only just six interceptions on 389 pass attempts in 2024. That tells me this staff knows how to develop quarterbacks and protect the football. I expect more of the same under Brohm.

Final Remarks

When it comes to quarterback play, the ACC has me fired up this season, and for good reason. Every quarterback in this conference brings a unique skill set that perfectly fits their offensive scheme. Just as important, the coaches are just as competitive and passionate as the players they lead.

And let’s not forget the ultimate goal: the national championship. No team enters the season aiming for average. Those long summer workouts and late-night film sessions are all in preparation for moments like these. Make no mistake, this year is going to be a gauntlet across the board.
