Following Texas’ loss to Ohio State in the CFP Semifinal, reports came out that QB Quinn Ewers was expected to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. In December, it was also rumored Ewers could be entering the transfer portal, as he had an offer for 6 Million dollars.
With Arch Manning likely taking over for Ewers in the Texas offense next year, it is draft or portal for Ewers. Coming into this season, Ewers was expected to be a top pick in the 2025 Draft, but after an underwhelming year, it could be in his best interest to stay in college.
Ewers finished the season with 3,472 passing yards 31 touchdowns although with a career-high 12 interceptions, Ewers also lost a strip sack against Ohio State, which sealed the game for the Buckeyes. He started all but two games for the Longhorns – early season contests that the 6’2″ 210-pound junior was injured for.
Ewers could be the next QB to enter the NFL Draft only to drop out and enter the Transfer Portal. Last season, Cam Ward entered the Draft, didn’t like what he saw and committed to Miami on a major NIL deal. This past Friday, we saw the same thing occur with Georgia QB Carson Beck, who committed to Miami on a rumored $4 Million dollar NIL deal.

Ewers is rumored to have a destination spot somewhere in the ACC, potentially going to UNC with new head coach Bill Belichick. Even if Ewers ends up committing to the NFL Draft, the college football world would not be entirely shocked if he entered the portal and transferred soon thereafter.
