I’m back at it with your Week 13 standout quarterback performances. Last week was a blast, no doubt. This week, the tension in the air was palpable, with the fate of a chosen few hanging in the balance. Here are this week’s top performers.

Week 13 elite quarterback performers:

Kevin Jennings, SMU

25/33, 323, 2 TD, 1 INT, 1 rushing TD vs Virginia

This game carried high stakes for the Mustangs: a spot in the ACC title game. SMU rose to the occasion, led by Jennings, who executed the RPO game with pinpoint accuracy. He navigated the pocket with poise and made significant contributions in the run game. Jennings was undeniably the driving force behind the offense.

DJ Lagway, Florida

10/17, 180, 2 TD, 1 INT vs Ole Miss

For Florida, this game was crucial to secure bowl eligibility, requiring victories both last week and this week. They delivered. What stood out about Lagway was his exceptional strength and pocket presence. He’s arguably one of the best young quarterbacks in college football, a claim he reinforced with his performance against a talented Ole Miss defense.

Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway (2) is congratulated by Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier after a series during the first half at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL on Saturday, October 19, 2024 against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Luke Altmyer, Illinois

12/26, 249 yards, 2 TD, 1 rushing TD v Rutgers

Altmyer connected with Pat Bryant for the go-ahead 40-yard touchdown as time ticked away. All game long, he was clutch and deliberate with his passing. He even added a rushing touchdown to his impressive performance.

X-Factor:

Payton Thorne, Auburn

19/31, 301, 2 TD, 1 INT vs Texas A&M

Thorne overcame a costly interception and displayed remarkable resilience. He went 5-for-8 on deep passes and excelled in play-action situations, throwing both of his touchdowns off play-action. This game became an instant classic, stretching into four overtime periods before Auburn came away with the win.

Sep 16, 2023; Auburn, Alabama, USA; Auburn Tigers quarterback Payton Thorne (1) warms up before the game against the Samford Bulldogs at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Riley Leonard, Notre Dame

10/13, 148, 2 TD vs Army

Leonard appears to be finally settling in for Notre Dame. If he can maintain this level of play consistently, Notre Dame will undoubtedly be a serious threat to any opponent.

Oct 26, 2024; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Riley Leonard (13) throws the ball during the first half against the Navy Midshipmen at MetLife Stadium.

Drew Allar, Penn State

21/28, 244, 1 TD, 1 rushing TD v Minnesota

Allar delivered a few difficult throws that moved the chains, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. He executed play-action effectively and played a clean, mistake-free game—exactly what his team needed from him to survive on the road.

Nov 2, 2024; University Park, Pennsylvania, USA; Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar (15) throws a pass during the fourth quarter against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Beaver Stadium.

Honorable mentions:

Jalon Daniels, Kansas

14/21, 189, 1 TD, 6 carries, 72 yards vs Colorado

Daniels showcased great timing, delivering the ball precisely when needed while the run game carried the load. His touchdown pass to Devin Neal on a screen was a highlight-worthy play to kick off the game. Colorado’s hopes for a conference title shot grew dimmer as Neal went on to score four touchdowns, sealing Kansas’ victory.

Sep 24, 2022; Lawrence, Kansas, USA; Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Jalon Daniels (6) drops back to pass against the Duke Blue Devils during the second half of the game at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma

9/11, 68, 25 carries, 131 yards vs Alabama

It’s been a rollercoaster season for the Sooners and Arnold, but they showcased determination and resilience in this performance. Arnold made a significant impact on the ground, highlighting his dual-threat ability. Credit goes to the offensive line for their dominant display.

Nov 18, 2023; Provo, Utah, USA; Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold (10) drops back to pass against the Brigham Young Cougars in the fourth quarter at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

What’s next?

Georgia awaits the winner of next week’s matchup between Texas A&M and Texas, which will determine their opponent in the SEC title game. Meanwhile, South Carolina faces Clemson in a showdown between LaNorris Sellers and Cade Klubnik. Another exciting matchup to watch is Miami vs. Syracuse, featuring quarterbacks Cam Ward and Kyle McCord who are no. 1 and 2 in passing yards nationally.
