Fact or Fiction: Dabo’s Reaction, Michigan Cheating, Urban Meyer to Sparty

Did the Clemson coach go overboard with radio callers? How much did Harbaugh know? Mike Farrell answers…

In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Dabo handled the caller properly.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Tyler from Spartanburg is famous now, and maybe he’s a plant, or maybe he’s just one of the 1.5%. Who knows?

Clemson’s Dabo Swinney went on an epic 5-minute rant tonight after ‘Tyler, from Spartanburg’ asked him about his $11.5 million salary and 4-4 season.

“I’m not gonna sit here and let you, I don’t care how much money I make. You’re not gonna talk to me like I’m 12-years old..” pic.twitter.com/XvjhZDUd2m

But Dabo handled the caller well, and his responses were on point. Clemson has been bad over their last 12 games for sure and 5-7 in that span is terrible for a team that has won two national titles in recent years. But Swinney doesn’t deserve to hear any hot seat talk or justify his salary. Is he too sensitive? Yep. But he’s 100% right to shut these trolls down hard. He’s been amazing at Clemson and the first sign of things going south shouldn’t be of this level of concern to the fan base.

2. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire at Michigan.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Something is up. That’s as much as I can say. To those Michigan apologists who say no rules were broken, I say to them they’re delusional. This stuff isn’t just made up, and these kinds of investigations never reveal a goose egg of nothing. How bad is it, and how much did Jim Harbaugh know? That’s the real question, and the answer could range from terrible, and he knew it all, to a nothing burger, and he had no idea. But let’s be real: something happened, and it will come out.

Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh shouts and grins after a turnover late in the game took the ball away from the Michigan State Spartans at Spartan Stadium.

3. Urban Meyer will be the next coach at Michigan State.

Farrell’s take: FICTION

Despite reports of mutual interest, there is no way Urban Meyer would take the job at Michigan State. Why? Things behind the scenes at MSU are a mess from institutional control to NIL, and Meyer won’t take a job where he can’t succeed immediately. And trust me, there’s no way he could immediately succeed at Michigan State if even half of what I’m hearing from the inside is true. How about USC if Lincoln Riley leaves for the NFL? Or Texas A&M if Jimbo Fisher gets bought out? Those make much more sense to me.
