At 6-foot-1, 188 pounds, Ramapo High School Raiders quarterback Casey Grusser was as productive as they come in New Jersey high school football last season.
Grusser passed for 2,279 yards and 17 touchdowns and completed 65 percent of his passes. In addition, Grusser rushed for 685 yards and nine scores. He also scored a receiving touchdown. Not too shabby for someone who had not played quarterback since the eighth grade.
Grusser accounted for four total touchdowns against Hackensack and Wayne Valley from the quarterback position. In a one-point win over Ridge, Grusser passed for a season-high 331 yards and a touchdown, and he caught a TD pass.
Grusser led the Raiders to eight consecutive wins and a state sectional championship for the second consecutive year with a 35-28 win over Morris Knolls. Grusser gained 152 yards through the air and tossed one TD in the game.

They became the first team in recent memory to start the season with three losses and finished as the state sectional champions.

Last season, Grusser had three long passes of more than 50 yards and posted a long run of 60 yards. In addition, Grusser posted seven games with a completion percentage of 70 percent or higher.
For his efforts, Grusser was named First-Team All-League, First Team All-County, Second-Team All-North Jersey and Third-Team All-State G4.
Athleticism runs deep in the family. Grusser’s brother, Patrick, is an ATH for the Syracuse Orange. Grusser’s older brother, Jack, was named to multiple all-state teams in New Jersey and attended Michigan. He will transfer to Penn this season. His sister Mary, a high school junior, earned a Division I soccer scholarship to Fairfield University.
Grusser is a quiet leader who leads by example. He has received interest from FCS schools. However, more college coaches should be camped out at Ramapo practices in the coming months to get a look at Grusser, one of the best and talented signal callers in New Jersey going into his senior season.
The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, said this about Grusser:

“2026 verified 3-star QB Casey Grusser: a very good athlete, good arm, excellent accuracy and is a nightmare to defend,” Farrell said.
