Florida’s high school football recruiting hotbed has produced untold numbers of talented prep football stars. The next in line to take his game to the next level is talented quarterback Jorris Shephard of Santaluces High School in Lantana, Florida.

Regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in Florida for the Class of 2026, Shephard gained valuable experience and knowledge at the position playing varsity at Jupiter Christian. As an 8th grader, Shephard passed for 2,000 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Last season in his junior year with the Chiefs of Santaluces, Shephard passed for 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns, helping lead the Chiefs to a 4-0 record in district play and an 8-3 overall record. Shephard’s QB rating was 108.0.

Shephard is a pocket passer who exhibits good footwork and calmness as he works through his progressions to find an open receiver.

Shephard’s work ethic is outstanding. After practice, Shephard works two extra sessions with his wide receivers. Once a month, Shephard catches a flight to Atlanta to work out with quarterback trainer Quincy Avery.

In addition, Shephard works with a collegiate offensive coordinator to improve his defensive reads, and reviews his performance with his team’s offensive coordinator and his head coach. Shephard puts in the hard work in the weight room as well, gaining 20 pounds of muscle over the last 12 months.

Shephard also maintains a grade point average of 3.5 and a weighted average of 4.2 in the classroom, resulting in Ivy League schools Yale and Cornell expressing interest, as well as Keiser University.

With his hard work, passing skills and his intelligence for the game and the QB position, more college coaches should be on notice to show up on Santaluces’ sidelines in the coming months to watch Shephard throw the football all over the field.

The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, said this about Shephard,

“2026 verified 3-star QB Jorris Shephard sees the field well. Goes through progressions and has excellent accuracy.”
