The hotbed recruiting state of Florida is loaded with talented high school football players who want to take their skills to the next level. Among those talented players in the Sunshine State, 2026 QB Cannon Cowhey of Florida State University High School stands out.

At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, Cowhey has grown three inches and gained 25 pounds during the offseason. In 2024, Cowhey led the Seminoles to an 8-4 record and a regional semifinal appearance. He threw for 1,511 yards and seven touchdowns.

In addition, he rushed for a score. Cowhey led an offense that averaged 30 points per game and scored 40 or more points three times.

When it comes to keeping his football skills razor sharp, Cowhey trains with Johnathan Pearce in Jacksonville, Florida. Those skills have earned him a scholarship offer to West Florida. In addition, Cowhey has fielded calls from such schools as Mercer, Samford, and Appalachian State and has attended their summer football camps.

Cowhey knows the importance of academics and maintains a 3.8 GPA.

This offseason, Cowhey led the Seminoles to a state runner-up finish in the FHS7v7A State Championship in June. For his efforts, Cowhey was singled out as a standout on both days of competition by Andy Villamarzo of fhs7v7a.com.

“Good size at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. Cannon displayed good arm strength and ability to move well within the pocket,” Villamarzo said on Day 1 of championship play.”

“Another strong day for Cannon as the ’26 passer led Florida State High to the state title game of FHS7v7. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound-passer showed poise and from the pocket and touch on his passes,” said Villamarzo on Day 2 of competition.

Cowhey played all 12 games last season for the Seminoles, even though he was not 100 percent. With a sprained meniscus in his knee suffered in Week 2, Cowhey continued to lead his team to the playoffs. That is toughness personified.
