The Lone Star State has produced talented football players over the years, with a particular interest in quarterbacks. One such player is 2026 quarterback Gavin Beard.
At 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, Beard led the Aledo Bearcats to the Texas 5A Division I quarterfinals and a 12-2 record. The Bearcats are a program that has 12 state titles in their trophy case and were victorious in 127-0 record in district games, and counting.
Beard began his football odyssey as a ninth-grader playing both wide receiver and quarterback on the varsity team. Over the next two seasons, Beard was the backup QB, just biding his time and waiting for his number to be called. When the call came, Beard was ready.
Last season as a junior team captain, Beard passed for 2,629 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only five INTs. Beard went seven straight weeks without throwing an interception and led the Bearcats on a 10-game winning streak.
Aledo averaged 53 points per game on offense last season. Beard completed 69.4 percent of his passes and led Aledo to its 17th consecutive district championship.
