With EA officially announcing a timeline for the new college football video game, sports enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly awaiting the chance to dive into gameplay for the first time in over a decade. As the release date draws nearer, I’ve decided to predict the top-rated players in each position group. Let’s look at which Edge rushers will be causing the most havoc in the new game.

5. Landon Jackson

Landon Jackson made a huge jump this past season, emerging as a standout for the Razorbacks, leading the team with 6.5 sacks His big year extended beyond pass rushing, as he notched 14 tackles for loss in 2023, earning him first-team All-SEC honors. Jackson is as natural of a pass rusher as they come, boasting a combination of length, explosiveness, and speed that enables him to dominate the line of scrimmage. With his natural talent, Jackson is primed to elevate his game further as his career progresses.

4. Rueben Bain Jr.

Only a few freshmen garnered as much attention as Rueben Bain Jr. did in 2023. Bain was so impressive that he secured the second-highest pass-rushing PFF score ever by a Power 5 true freshman, trailing only Miles Garrett in 2014. Standing at an imposing 6’3” and 275 pounds, Bain is way bigger than your average edge guy. His massive frame allows him to line up inside and out, making him very versatile as a pass rusher.

3. Princely Umanmielen

Following two consecutive seasons leading the Florida Gators in sacks, Princely Umanmielen emerged as one of the most sought-after names in the Transfer Portal this offseason. Many thought Umanmielen could enter the NFL draft this year and hear his name called within the first two days. The pass rusher has a knack for anticipating plays and possesses really good speed, allowing him to chase down quarterbacks attempting to evade the pocket.

2. James Pearce Jr.

James Pearce Jr. enjoyed a breakout year for the Vols, accounting for 9.5 sacks as a sophomore, third in the SEC. Pearce’s dominance extended to tallying 14 tackles for loss and earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2023. Standing tall at 6’5”, Pearce is a freak athlete off the edge. His quick first step allows him to consistently blow past defenders and reach the QB. Pearce is also very strong and physical, allowing him to bully offensive tackles while getting to the ball.

1. JT Tuimoloau

Returning for his senior year at Ohio State, JT Tuimoloau stands as one of the most seasoned pass rushers in the nation. While his numbers may not always dazzle, anyone who has witnessed Tuimoloau in action knows his impact on the field for the Buckeyes. The Edgewood, WA native’s play has awarded him with first-team all-conference honors in consecutive seasons. Tuimoloau is effective vs the run and pass, making him a 3 down player for the Buckeyes. He also has a tremendous motor and never gives up on a play.
