As draft season rapidly approaches, I continue to give my 10 favorite players for each position. Finally, it’s the safeties’ turn.

  • Quarterbacks
  • Running Backs
  • Wide Receivers
  • Tight Ends
  • Offensive Tackles
  • Interior Offensive Linemen
  • Defensive Linemen
  • Edge Rushers
  • Linebackers
  • Cornerbacks

1. Tyler Nubin, Minnesota

— The best of an average class, Nubin is a great athlete.

2. Javon Bullard, Georgia

— Tough kid, covers ground, and can be physical.

3. Jaden Hicks, Washington State

— Love his ball skills and range.

4. Tykee Smith, Georgia

— I have him higher than most, kid is a worker and leader.

Stat of the day:

Tykee Smith’s 7.5 tackles for loss this season are the most by a UGA defensive back since Brandon Boykin in 2011.

Javon Bullard recorded the 2nd most since Boykin when he had 7 TFLs in ‘22.

Georgia’s secondary is built different.

5. Kam Kinchens, Miami

— So talented and can flash but can also get lost.

Feb 29, 2024; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Miami-Fl defensive back Kamren Kinchens (DB53) talks to the media during the 2024 NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.

6. Calen Bullock, USC

— Maybe the most naturally talented but inconsistent.

7. Cole Bishop, Utah

— Smarts and toughness stand out.

Jan 31, 2024; Mobile, AL, USA; National defensive back Cole Bishop of Utah (8) sets the play during practice for the National team at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

8. Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, Texas Tech

— Sleeper value pick here who can do it all.

DB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson continued to have a tremendous draft process.

1️⃣Crushed his senior season at @TexasTechFB

2️⃣Dominated during the @ShrineBowl week on field and in interviews

3️⃣Put on a show at the NFL Combine (led by his 4.42 forty)

9. Beau Brade, Maryland

— Very physical kid with a lot of power.

Maryland defensive back Beau Brade (2) intercepts a pass intended for Michigan State wide receiver Tre Mosley (17) during the first half at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023.

10. Malik Mustapha, Wake Forest

— Smart, always seems to be in the right position.

One player that I can't wait to see this week is Wake Forest S Malik Mustapha.

Highly energized mover who plays with impressive physicality. Best projects as a strong safety but there's enough range and fluidity in the deep portion of the field to provide versatility.
